customer reviews

Asus stands for good quality
For months I wondered what I had for now to do for a notebook for Christmas.

A Asus notebook? Yes! Asus is indeed among the world's top 4 on the motherboard manufacturers and is already well known. In addition, this group has indeed the netbook boom triggered and needs to understand so little of notebooks. In addition, the test was the predecessor to the Model no. X5DIJ SX101L crucial to notebookjournal.de for me - even at cnet.com I saw a # 1 rating. Unlike its predecessor, this model is equipped with a slightly faster processor (T4300 at 2.1 GHz instead of T4200 with 2.0 GHz).

I need a notebook for general office tasks and surfing the Web, or even for not-so-hungry, smaller games, the need for a reasonable price, all the rest I do not - because of everything else I've got a powerful PC. Also Windows 7 is intended to run optimally, and possibly a Linux distribution (my favorite Ubuntu) as dual boot. In addition, general, small programming jobs or in between for emulation / virtualization software, since I'm the author is to run it. The onboard Intel graphics chip 4500M is also HD (1080p - Full HD) without problems, including your image edits are not a problem. All of those tasks this laptop at a very affordable price. Since you can not really say no, because what you get for the price:

A very well crafted, for that price really high-quality notebook and all major ports. Well fancy things like eSATA and HDMI, the notebook, but in this price range that's not necessary, and for general purposes not. VGA port as the projector or the LCD-TV, 4 USB ports, Ethernet / network port, all there. Even after the new wireless N standard. Standard WLAN b / g is naturally present. Memory is expandable up to 4 GB - But this is only interesting for virtualization software (eg emulation of an operating system). A bright LED screen helps preserve the battery life and creates an impressive image on the screen (rich colors, good contrast). there is one drawback: the high-gloss surface of the notebook we see the same every fingerprint, but there are microfiber towels and they're gone. Even outdoors in bright sunlight or it may be that the screen reflects back too much (yes, glare screen, no matter is).

The most important thing: it stays nice and cool even during extended period, fans is almost inaudible - almost completely silent. The battery life is normal in labor input about 3-4 hours. Very good in this price range. The half-life of technical equipment, especially computer is so low - what does a model for 1000 € if after 1-2 years, not even half's worth - especially in the notebook area you can after the Warranty (2 years, carry this service) anyway, a new model to get there is the old outdated so miles and parts not or are difficult to be upgraded.

I installed Windows 7 - Prof. 32-bit and after about 20 minutes, the laptop was ready for use. Oh, and all Drivers are automatically installed with driver installation of Windows 7. No manual driver installation everything! You have to say that either comes from the factory almost a non-usable Linux operating system. The best right down delete from the record and the best a Windows 7 or Ubuntu Linux. It then runs like clockwork - clear who Installers of an operating system has no idea to ask someone else or buy a model where an operating system already installed. Ideal for people that do not require compulsory licensing of Windows installed, and students at the university, which already receive such a license for Windows from the university, or equivalent Linux up to play. Also works in everyday life or in the living room perfect for almost all tasks due to high battery life, Dual Core and 2 GB of RAM. Computing power is now so really not an issue for everyday functions, and this notebook does not - quite enough for mainstream users.

Now to the technical details:

In Windows 7 - performance index, I have the following values with this laptop:
processor - 5.4
RAM - 5.4 Graphics
- 3.1
graphics (games) - 3.3
Primary hard disk - 5.6

clear that this laptop for the latest 3D games because of the Intel onboard graphics can not be used. For everything else: Yes! Aero interface of Windows 7 is running great. Even for one of my relatives I have ordered this notebook the same - he is very satisfied.

After several hours I have an operating temperature of 32-33 ° Celsius (read by HWiNFO32), and with the standard BIOS. There is currently another notebook offering with a similar price and more memory, but I think AMD processors in notebooks have lost nothing - excessive heat, viell. it's gotten better now - but I'm not a good experience eg with Turion processors made in notebooks. Particularly in notebooks is still purely an Intel CPU. The clear advantages of this laptop are the good workmanship (haptics), the LED screen and nearly matched almost no heat development with good quality hardware components of the device, also two years instead of one Pick-Up/Returnservice/Garantie year.

a more detailed illustrated, see report on my blog klammwall.blogspot.com IT!

Conclusion: Highly recommended!

Very good notebook with little weaknesses
I bought this laptop and must say I'm thrilled with the price / performance ratio.

The positive aspects:

Driver Support:
running on my Windows XP now, but Asus offers on its homepage to include drivers for Windows Vista and Windows 7.
to which there is much that is really helpful to Asussoftware (eg Asus multi-frame).

Volume:
Very quiet comfortable working sound under full load, you notice it easily, but does not interfere.

Power:
Very fast hard drive (at least you have the subjective impression that this is working very fast). The processor is sufficient for work applications.

Battery life:
you turn the screen brightness down a bit, so we really reached 4-5 hours, which is excellent

So now the negatives:

Graphics:
Intel graphics cards are already very leistungssschwach default. But built into this notebook has the dynamic RAM (up to 256MB). This leads to a lousy Distractions result in dual-monitor mode, since no video memory is allocated. The colors are all washed out and pale, and there are visible streaks, so I could not be repaired by replacement of the monitor or a driver update. So if you want to use an external screen, this notebook is not very recommended.

addition, the weak graphics performance will take pictures in the video presentation software (like Camtasia Studio or Adobe Captivate) to mouse flicker etc. -> but in this business, very few users, but I just wanted to mention. Then I shall go to the next point:

Audio: Audio recordings
always produce a slight noise, could not find the cause. Play and make sound but no problems dar.

Prozesor: Yes
is there anything negative to note about the processor:). Intel built into this "cheap mobile processors," NOT their Intel VT virtualization extension. This is the latest on Windows 7 Professional or higher on the problem when you try to run the Windows XP mode. This requires that of enlargement. Who needs this is better served with an AMD, there it is widely implemented standard (AMD-V).

Conclusion:
For all those who recommended the need not just the points I have listed under Negative.

Asus X5DIJ SX155L
The notebook is highly recommended. Good workmanship and great design. Graphics (screen) 2 +, but not in sunlight can be used as high-gloss Screen - that's razor sharp and excellent contrast. Noise 2 (3-4 for the DVD drive, what could one expect from these and other notebook tabs?). Speed 2 (Dual-Core and 2 GB of RAM - for standard applications, more than OK, not a gaming PC!). Battery 3 (about 3 hours running time in continuous operation, including W-LAN.) - Certainly not necessarily up to date ... but ask for consideration of the price. WLAN connectivity 1 (\u0026lt;1 min in the network). For the installation of operating systems (usually Windows): bring a little time and not immediately the included drivers on the "Total start-button" install (at least not when an older XP version is available). Only XP, then the drivers manually from Device Manager (depending on the age of the XP version will not install any drivers at once - only the important first network card), "fight through" then to the last Windows Update ;, then the remaining drivers (preferably manually re) install. Bottom line: If, as described, XP is first installed completely, "funzt" the thing properly - for this price there is no alternative - unless you want to play Need for Speed, etc.. Experience with WIN7 are not available.
